A Joint Service for Bacton & Walcott Parishes
All Saints, Walcott
17th April 2005
This service has been put together by Sylvia Andrews, Dorothy Brighty, Karen Mellerup and Shirleyanne Seel using materials supplied by TearFund. It invites us all to reflect on Gods kingdom, to consider whether the world is the way He wants it to be and to decide on what we can do to bring the kingdom closer.
Introduction
Welcome
Hymn 379: Majesty
Opening video
Please turn to face the wall at the back of the church. If you would like to move to the back to see more clearly, please do so.
Confession
O God our Father, we confess that we have often used your gifts carelessly, and acted as though we were not grateful. Hear our prayer, and in your mercy,
forgive us and help us.
When we enjoy the fruits of the harvest, but forget they come from youthen, Father, in your mercy,
forgive us and help us.
When we are full and satisfied, but ignore the cry of the hungry and those in needthen, Father, in your mercy,
forgive us and help us.
When we are thoughtless, and do not treat with respect or care the wonderful world you have madethen, Father, in your mercy,
forgive us and help us.
When we store up for ourselves alone, as if there were no God and no heaventhen, Father, in your mercy,
forgive us and help us.
Grant us thankful hearts and a loving concern for all people; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Bible reading: Matthew 25:31-40
Hymn: When I needed a neighbour
Interactive Sermon
For the next 30 minutes please go to the prayer stations around the church. There you will find activities, information, and suggestions for prayer and meditation. You may choose to spend a lot of time at one station or to visit each one for just a few minutes. The choice is yours. On the back of this service sheet is a map of the different stations.
Final meditation
We return for a final meditation. A video will be played on the back wall of the church. Feel free to watch it, or just listen to the music.
Prayers
These responses may be used
Lord, in your mercy
hear our prayer.
And at the end
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
The Lords prayer may be said:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.
